Industry ‘must cut 10% of power usage’

ESKOM on Sunday declared a “power emergency” for large industrial customers, requiring them to immediately reduce their electricity usage by 10%.
This followed load-shedding across the country at the weekend.
“The power system has experienced an increase in electricity demand due to the weather conditions and an increase in load losses as a result of multiple tripping of generating units at the Majuba and Matimba power stations,” the power utility said in a statement on Sunday. Read more…
