Solar's star on rise, but awaits Refit plan

While the photovoltaic market in SA has been slow to catch on, market players are excited about the prospects for this form of renewable energy and the impact it will have on job creation.

The government has, in its Integrated Resource Plan, a 20-year master energy strategy, set aside about 8,400MW of solar photovoltaic to be deployed in SA by 2030. The framework allows for 300MW of large-scale photovoltaic per year to be rolled out from 2012 onwards.
