Solar Indaba Webinar Series: Expanding the South African Commercial PV Market – 25 July 2013
Solar Indaba and SAPVIA’s Rooftop PV Sub-Committee invite you to join the complimentary webinar:
Expanding the South African Commercial PV Market Thursday 25 July | 2.00 – 3.00 PM (SAST) |
As load shedding continues across South Africa and electricity prices increase, the installation of rooftop PV systems as a means for generating power is becoming increasingly popular amongst commercial businesses.
Those with 24/7 energy requirements or those facing increasing pressures to reduce their carbon footprints for export markets are two market segments which are now more seriously looking towards PV.
High upfront costs, the lack of a net metering system and poor understanding of the economics and payback times for PV systems have traditionally put many businesses off. Add to this a rise in inexperienced start-up installation companies and it becomes clear work is needed to help drive the sector forward.
SAPVIA’s rooftop PV sub-committee will be joining commercial power consumers, installers and municipalities in a dedicated track at the 3rd Annual Solar Indaba to tackle some of these issues. To start discussions on the subject moving we will be hosting a webinar, open to all and free to join on Thursday 25 July at 2PM South African time.
Key topics to be discussed include:
- How does the payback time for a PV system compare to current and projected electricity prices in South Africa?
- What are commercial power consumer attitudes to solar PV and who have been the early movers in the space?
- What growth in commercial PV is expected in South Africa under different scenarios?
- What grants, rebates and financing options are available to businesses?
