SAPVIA’s PV Green Card in Operation

We wish to inform you that SAPVIA’s PV GreenCard (PVGC) Programme remains fully operational.

In light of significant solar rooftop market growth, it is imperative for us as an industry body to uphold the core objectives of the PVGC, which is to promote quality and safe Solar PV installations and to serve as an “as built report” and to protect the reputation of the industry and end users. The ‘as built report’ should be issued with every small-scale Solar PV installation by suitably qualified installers in addition to the Certificate of Compliance (CoCs) issued by electricians registered with the Department of Employment and Labour (DEL).

It is for this reason that the registration criteria on the PVGC website is outlined as follows:

a) A company with a DEL registered electrician who has undertaken PV GreenCard training and assessment (1 individual)

b) A company with a DEL electrician and an individual who has undertaken PV GreenCard training and assessment (2 individuals), who need to work together.

Registration on the PV GreenCard platform is but one component of the programme. Those registered need to comply with the other precepts of the programme i.e., to complete the “as built report’, which is a customized quality report that documents the installation of the PV system and covers all relevant installation steps and important information on the equipment used.

Due to high demand for registration on the PV GreenCard platform and some technical glitches, SAPVIA paused registration for 3 weeks to revise the registration process. The update was concluded on 31 August 2022 and registration onto our platform has been open again since 1 September 2022.
