SAPVIA's 3rd Networking Event: 24 April 2012 in CT

SAPVIA hosted it’s 3rd Networking Event on Tuesday the 24th of April at the Protea Hotel Fire & Ice! in Cape Town.

Kevin Leask, Chief Engineer at Eskom’s Strategic Grid Planning Unit, shed light on Eskom’s planning process and strategies for readying the grid for the large scale uptake of Renewable Energy, talking the audience through the the various development plans, the differences between capacity versus transmission planning, the impact of large scale renewable energy generation, the 2040 transmission study, and the issues and potential strategies for overcoming these issues pertaining to grid access for renewable energy.

Rafikh Ismail, Senior Account Manager at the IDC’s Green Industries Unit, spoke about the IDC’s Green Energy Efficiency Fund, touching on, among other things, the characteristics of the fund, who the fund is intended for, how it can be accessed and talking through some case studies.
