Taking action to address challenges faced by early childhood development (ECD) centres within communities in the Siyancuma Local Municipality and to improve the standard of services for the benefit of children, Boikanyo Solar launched an ECD infrastructure project in April of this year.

The project is set to benefit four local ECD centres and close to 200 children with the provision of educational resources, infrastructural support, as well as practitioner training, for a course of 12 months.

“ECD centres in the area have been identified as lacking learning resources for indoor and outdoor activities. In order to meet this need, learning and play equipment among other educational resources will be provided. This project will have a positive impact on the community ECD education level and the development of the little ones,” explained Pamela Matyeka, Community Liaison Officer for Boikanyo Solar.

This support includes the provision of educational and learning materials; outdoor play equipment; tables and chairs; gas stoves and bottle gas for assistance during load-shedding; infrastructure development; and soft skills capacity building for ECD practitioners and management board. These resources will help cater to the developmental phases of the children, ensuring that a conducive teaching and learning environment is provided.

“On behalf of the Arthruders ECD Centre, the school Governing Body and Finance Committee, we thank the generous local sponsor of our outdoor playing equipment for our kids. This ECD Centre could not prosper without the generous support of your caring company,” – Arthruders ECD Centre Principal, Leah Van Wyk.
