9 December 2011: THE consortium led by Mainstream Renewable Power intends to submit bids for three more projects in the next round of the independent power producer procurement programme, Mainstream Renewable Power SA director Davin Chown said yesterday.
The Department of Energy this week released a list of preferred bidders for the programme. It approved Mainstream’s three projects — a 133,8MW wind farm at Jeffreys Bay in the Eastern Cape, a 50MW solar photovoltaic farm at De Aar in the Northern Cape and a 50MW solar photovoltaic farm near Kimberley.
