MATRIC CLASS OF 2022 HONOURED IN A CELEBRATORY AWARDS CEREMONY

In honour of the academic achievements of the Matric Class of 2022, the third annual academic awards were held recently. The purpose of this ‘Well-Done ceremony’ event is to stimulate and recognise academic excellence among matriculants in schools across the Naledi Municipality Sub-District, as well as to motivate future matriculants to strive for excellence and to pursue their studies further at tertiary institutions.

The ceremony was held at the Naledi Municipality Banquet Hall, where recipients, parents/guardians, principals, and the Department of Education officials were in attendance.

According to Claire Phutieagae, Community Liaison Officer for Waterloo Solar, which funds this programme in partnership with the Department of Education, the solar project is committed to supporting the educational aspirations of learners at school and encouraging excellence in school work.

“We recognise the importance of sustainable support for matriculants, encouraging students to apply themselves to their studies and motivating schools within the Naledi Municipality. Our goal is to reward the students who have put in tremendous effort into their studies and acknowledge the good work done by principals and teachers,” said Claire. “Furthermore, we are proud to support the educational aspirations of learners in the area and look forward to continuing this support in the future.”

During the ceremony, twenty laptops and twenty certificates were awarded to the deserving learners.

Katlego Bosman, a previous matriculant from Colinda Secondary, and recipient of the Waterloo Scholarship, said, “Waterloo Solar is doing a great thing to support students in this manner. I am also a previous recipient of this award, so I know how important the laptop will be in their studies.”

Bopaganang Secondary, Colinda High School, Pule Leeuw Secondary, John Frylinc, Rekgaratlhile Secondary, Stella High School, Kismet High School, Vryburg High, Nqunde Secondary, and Tiger Kloof Combined School are some of the schools that benefited from this programme.
