Likusasa Portraz Project News
Likusasa has designed and built 11 solar powered sites for the Posts and telecommunications regulatory of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ). These are large sites with an average power consumption of 17kW intended to be shared by four GSM operators. The hybrid power scope of work on each site includes a 42 kWp PV array, a 40 kVA generator, and 8000Ah OPzV deep cycling batteries to provide 18 hours autonomy.
This was a particularly challenging project as the sites are in remote locations with difficult access. The first site survey was particularly memorable as the surveyor (who was on foot at this time) found to his dismay that the site was occupied by a pride of lions.
