China is to build a 300MW solar photovoltaic power plant project in Chile with a total reported investment of US$900m. The project is being driven by Sky Solar Group, a Shanghai-based specialist in PV.
This will be a multi-phase project with an initial 2MW pilot project constructed this year. Those involved expect the pilot to be followed by an 18MW ground-mounted PV plant by 2014 and over the following 18 months the remaining projects are likely to be “at least” 150 MW in size, according to Sky Solar.
