UPLIFTING EARLY CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT IN MAQUASSI HILLS AND MATLOSANA MUNICIPALITIES
To foster positive change and enrich early learning within Maquassi Hills and Matlosana Municipalities, an Early Childhood Development Programme is providing targeted support and resources, coaching and monitoring to upskill caregivers, as well as minor renovations to 15 local ECD centres.
Initiated in 2020, the programme focuses on addressing critical needs such as equipment shortages, funding limitations, infrastructure improvements, and caregiver training, identified through a detailed situation analysis.
“We believe that investing in ECD is investing in the future. These centres are vital pillars of our communities, nurturing young minds and ensuring a brighter tomorrow,” stated Claire Phutieagae, Community Liaison Officer for Bokamoso Solare, which funds this programme as part of its socio-economic development programmes.
As a result of the programme, practitioners and managers at each beneficiary centre received essential resources, renovations, and accredited training.
Furthermore, the infrastructural upgrades, which commenced in October 2023, are scheduled for completion by November 2024. These improvements aim to bring the ECD centres into full compliance with legal and quality standards, ensuring a safe and enriching environment for the children they serve.
Principal Ester Kelebogile Tladi of one of the beneficiary centres expressed gratitude, stating, “I commend the assistance provided in supporting our centre. It has a significant impact on both the centre and the children. In this journey of hope and growth, we honour the commitment shown. We are grateful to Bokamoso Solar, for believing in our mission and investing in the next generation.”
