Dear SAPVIA Members,
SAPVIA invites members to submit inputs on the Phase 3 Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) for the expansion of Renewable Energy Development Zones (REDZs). This SEA considers, among others, the expansion of the eMalahleni and Beaufort West REDZs, the co-location of wind and solar PV in selected REDZs, and mitigation measures for vulture electrocution risks. To allow SAPVIA to consolidate and submit sector-aligned feedback, member comments are due by 23 April 2026.
Members are kindly requested to use the attached response template when providing feedback, clearly referencing page and line numbers as outlined in the guidance documents, available at https://redzs.csir.co.za/.
