SAPVIA Responds to City of Johannesburg’s Proposed Electricity Tariffs

The City of Johannesburg (CoJ) has released proposed new electricity tariffs, with a public participation period running until 12 May. SAPVIA’s Residential PV Working Group has reviewed these tariffs, assessing them against key principles of cost-reflectivity, fairness, equity, and efficiency.
In response, SAPVIA is urging the City of Johannesburg to reconsider the proposed tariffs, specifically advocating for the elimination of the discrepancy between prepaid and postpaid customers. A detailed analysis, including our recommendations, is available in the attached document.
