SAPVIA – Quarterly Newsletter – June 2023

The start of 2023 has marked a significant shift in South Africa’s energy sector, particularly with the President’s declaration of a state of disaster in his State of the Nation address. This crisis demands immediate, collaborative efforts from public and private sector players to drive a renewable energy revolution across the country. As part of our response, SAPVIA is closely collaborating with government entities, such as the Small Enterprise Financing Agency (SEFA), to help businesses, especially SMMEs, to navigate these challenging times.

With new Electricity Minister, Dr Kgosientsho Ramokgopa at the helm, we’re prepared to support all necessary measures to address the energy crisis, promoting solar PV as a cornerstone solution. That, we believe will play a critical role in economic recovery of South Africa. Such relies on the unity and collaborative spirit of all stakeholders, and we’re keen to foster this synergy in every way possible.

Our mission remains to shape and influence regulations and policy development, inform and educate members and other stakeholders, facilitate partnerships and collaboration and promote higher usage of solar PV in the public & private sector.
