SAPVIA CEO appointed to the Global Solar Council
South Africa’s reputation as a leading voice in the renewables space received another boost this week. The CEO of the body representing the solar PV sector in the country was confirmed as a new board member for the Global Solar Council.
“Earlier this week, the Global Solar Council held its General Assembly where they discussed their strategy for the critical year ahead. They elected their new Board of Directors to help support the mission to deliver cost-competitive, resilient, and sustainable solar power across the world. It is an honour to have been chosen to be a part of this esteemed group of industry experts,” says Dr Rethabile Melamu, CEO of the SA Photovoltaic Industry Association (SAPVIA).
The Global Solar Council Board includes associations representing both emerging and mature markets, as well as corporates from across the global solar supply chain. The Board also has Directors from every continent, for a truly global perspective.
“I look forward to working with the Board as we share best practice from our various continents and economies. This is a global mission, and we consider it a privilege to have been elected,” says Melamu. She will serve a two-year term of office.
The Global Solar Council is the voice of the world’s solar energy industry on the global stage, a non-profit body based in Washington D.C. and representing national, regional, and international associations as well as leading solar sector corporations.
