Private Generation Registration Update, October 2025: NERSA REGISTERED Capacity
Total Private Sector Renewable Energy Projects Reach 16.8GW Milestone!
NERSA has published the registration statistics for generation facilities in South Africa for September and October 2025.
- The total registered capacity increased by 715MW to 16 827MW.
- The total number of registered facilities increased by 82 projects from 2176 to 2258 facilities
- The registered capacity of Solar PV projects increased by 716MW from 10 442MW to 11 158MW.
- The share of Solar PV projects of total registered capacity increased by 1.5% to 64.8%.
- The registered capacity of projects 100MW and larger increased to 12 629MW. Solar PV projects account for 65.63% and Wind projects 34.36%, respectively.
·The registered capacity of projects 10MW and larger likely designed for wheeling increased to 15 618MW. Solar PV projects account for 69.71% and Wind projects 30.29%, respectively.
