PRIVATE GENERATION REGISTRATION UPDATE: MAY & JUNE 2024

☀ Total Solar PV Project registrations cross the 5GW Mark!

🏭 Total SSEG, 1MW and smaller, Solar PV Project registrations reach 500MW Milestone!

This morning, NERSA released the May and June statistics for registered generation facilities in South Africa.

· The total registered capacity increased by 214MW to 7454MW.

· The total number of registered facilities increased by 66 from 1424 to 1490.

· The registered capacity of Solar PV projects increased from 4814MW to 5027MW.

· The share of Solar PV projects of total registered capacity increased to 67.4%.

· The registered capacity of projects 100MW and larger increased to 4350MW. Solar PV projects account for 57% and Wind projects 43%, respectively.

·The registered capacity of projects 10MW and larger likely designed for wheeling increased to 5622MW. Solar PV projects account for 62% and Wind projects 38%, respectively.
