NERSA PRIVATE GENERATION REGISTRATION UPDATE – JULY 2024
☀ Total Solar PV project registrations cross the 5.5GW Mark!
NERSA recently released the July statistics for registered generation facilities in South Africa.
· The total registered capacity increased by 502MW to 7956MW.
· The total number of registered facilities increased by 59 from 1490 to 1549.
· The registered capacity of Solar PV projects increased from 5027MW to 5520MW.
· The share of Solar PV projects of total registered capacity increased to 69.4%.
· The registered capacity of projects 100MW and larger increased to 4795MW. Solar PV projects account for 62% and Wind projects 38%, respectively.
·The registered capacity of projects 10MW and larger likely designed for wheeling increased to 6072MW. Solar PV projects account for 65% and Wind projects 35%, respectively.
