Landmark 216 MWp Hydra Project Strengthens South Africa’s Utility-Scale Solar Growth
One of South Africa’s most significant renewable energy projects has officially come online with the completion of the 216 MWp Hydra Project, marking another important milestone in the country’s clean energy transition.
Developed by Hydra Storage Holding, PowerChina and TotalEnergies, the project incorporates GameChange Energy’s Genius Tracker™ 1P-5SQ system, designed to optimise solar generation through intelligent tracking technology and support long-term plant performance.
The successful delivery of the Hydra Project reflects the continued growth and maturity of South Africa’s solar PV sector. With more than 10 GW of installed solar PV capacity and over 1.6 GW of new capacity added in the past year, South Africa has established itself as one of Africa’s leading utility-scale solar markets.
