We are pleased to share a brief update and presentation from the recent Global Associations Workshop, hosted by SolarPower Europe (SPE) and BSW – Bundesverband Solarwirtschaft e.V., as part of #IntersolarEurope.
SAPVIA was proud to be represented at this international gathering by our Deputy Chairperson, DeVilliers Botha, who presented on behalf of both SAPVIA and the South African solar market. The workshop brought together nearly 40 solar associations from across the globe to exchange knowledge, share best practices, and discuss opportunities and challenges in advancing solar adoption worldwide.
Key highlights from the workshop included:
- Máté Heisz, COO of SolarPower Europe, shared insights from the #GlobalSolarOutlook25, noting:
“It took 70 years to install 1 TW of solar—and just 2 years to reach 2 TW. In 2024 alone, 597 GW of solar was installed globally.” - David Wedepohl of BSW highlighted the collaborative strength of the industry:
“Challenges lie ahead, but we know how to navigate them—and that is a strength.”
The discussions were insightful and inspiring, covering policy developments, market updates, and strategic collaboration across countries and regions.
