We have grown from humble beginnings to a significant player in the electrical, lighting, and renewable energy sectors, serving national and international customers.

Bernhard (Kiepie) Herholdt, one of South Africa’s youngest electricians at 18, co-founded Power Electrical Contractors in 1964. By 1974, launched Herholdt’s Electrical Contractors with Frikkie Esterhuizen, in Bloemfontein.

In 1989, they expanded into wholesaling through Herholdt’s Electrical Wholesalers. The opening of the Kimberley branch in 2010 paved the way for the creation of Herholdt’s Renewable Energies in 2016.

By 2017, Herholdt’s Renewable Energies had extended its reach to Bloemfontein, and the Exports Division was opened. In 2021, all divisions were unified under the banner of ‘The Herholdt’s Group.’
