Call For Sponsorship: energyDRIVE Cape Route 2026 | 13 Oct – 5 Nov 2026 | Northern, Western & Eastern Cape

Dear Valued Members,

The South African Photovoltaic Industry Association (SAPVIA), together with the South African Wind Energy Association (SAWEA) and the Durban University of Technology (DUT) invites you to join the energyDRIVE Cape Route 2026 and consider a new way to take part this year: adopting a school close to home.

energyDRIVE is a mobile, interactive learning experience that brings renewable energy education directly to Grade 9–12 learners. Since launching in 2017, the programme has reached over 9,000 learners across 80 schools, more than doubling its scale since 2022 (from 15 to 34 schools, and from 1,800 to over 4,300 learners engaged in 2025 alone).

This year’s Cape Route will visit schools across the Northern, Western and Eastern Cape between 13 October and 5 November 2026, provinces that host a significant share of South Africa’s wind and solar capacity, and where the future renewable energy workforce is growing up today.

The Ask: Adopt a School Within 50km of Your Site

Rather than sponsoring the route in the abstract, we’re asking SAPVIA members to “adopt” one or more schools located within roughly 50km of your solar plant or project site in the Cape provinces. This lets your company:

  • Build a direct, visible relationship with the community your operations are part of
  • Put your brand and people in front of the learners and educators nearest to your site
  • Channel your contribution to a place where your company already has a presence and a long-term stake

Let us know which of your sites you’d like to anchor your sponsorship to, and the SAPVIA team will match you to the nearest school(s) on the confirmed Cape Route itinerary.
