AltGen: O&M Manager – Solar – Johannesburg

If you have an electrical engineering degree and have at least 4+ years of hands-on experience working on O&M solar PV projects, you could be the ideal candidate to join a rapidly growing team in the solar PV financing space. They are looking for a Solar O&M Manager who can ensure that all project-related activities are performed in accordance with the O&M contract and other best practices are adopted, ensuring optimal performance. You will be based in Joburg and manage a number of power plants in South Africa.
You will be responsible for overall operations management, technical leadership as well as the contracts management. With 4+ years of experience under your belt, you will have a depth of knowledge that will lend itself to the success of the plants operations. You will be a well-versed leader, ensuring that the site team maintains a high level of motivation and that their outputs positively impact the solar plant’s performance – you will do this through careful planning and scheduling, managing contractors where necessary, troubleshooting maintenance issues and conducting root cause analysis. From handling SHEQ compliance through reviewing contractors’ reports managing insurance and warranty claims, writing reports, and managing risk, you will need to ensure that there is no room for operational or financial losses on the project. We are looking for an O&M Manager who can hit the ground running, is a technical wizz (be it remotely or while on site) and will successfully drive all operational aspects of the plants. You people management skills will be something that sets you apart from the other O&M Managers out there – you must be exceptional in this capacity.
