Environmental and permitting meeting (6th April 2011)
In order to establish good working relationships with key stakeholders in terms of land allocation and permitting, SAPVIA hosted a workshop with the DoE, DEA, Birdlife SA and the Endangered Wildlife Trust (EWT) on Wednesday the 6th of April, 2011, at Aquila Game Lodge.

The aim of the workshop was to:
- Enhance the relevant parties understanding of large scale grid connected PV technology in South Africa and its effect on the surrounding environment;
- To take the relevant parties on a site visit at to view the technology and the level of impact it has on its environment first hand;
- To discuss and resolve issues the PV industry is currently experiencing with regards to subdivision and rezoning of agricultural land, as well as the Environmental Impact Assessments process;
- To help all parties reach an informed position regarding appropriate environmental practices with respect to solar PV development.
