Enertis works as Owner’s Engineer in the largest Sonnedix’s project in South Africa
The 86 MW PV plant, owned by Sonnedix-Mulilo, is one of the projects selected in the third round of the REIPPPP, in South Africa.
30 of November 2015 – Enertis, international company specialized in technical advisory and engineering services in the renewable energy sector, is providing Owner’s Engineering services to Sonnedix in the 75 MW Sonnedix-Mulilo Prieska, selected in the third round of the Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme in South Africa (REIPPPP). The project, located in Prieska – Northern Cape -, began construction in the first quarter of 2015 and features one of the best solar irradiance conditions of the country. The commissioning and connection of the project to the grid is expected to happen in the first quarter of 2016.
Enertis is providing engineering services related to the quality assurance of the main equipment of the project, as well as to grid connection aspects. A major area covered is the quality control during manufacturing of the PV modules, including factory audits and independent laboratory testing, in addition to factory inspections of other pieces of equipment such as the inverters or the high voltage transformer of the plant. Enertis is also carrying out further analyses of aspects related to the grid connection and the substation of the project.
With this project Enertis strengthens its presence in the South African country as one of major providers of specialized engineering and technical advisory in solar energy, after having also participated as owner’s engineer in one of the main projects of the second round of the REIPPPP.
The company, with permanent presence in Cape Town, is also involved in the provision of technical advisory services for developers and Banks participating in the following rounds of the programme, as well as in the performance of testing of PV panels both in laboratory – flash test, electroluminescence – and on site with portable equipment – thermography, IV curve tracing -.
